My KIDS

December 2003, I became the Mommy of a lot of people. I suddenly had a lot of children. The amazing thing is ... I treated them like my very own. I love them all, cared for them, and looked out for them.

Then, one by one, they all went to start their own lives and I was really sad. The memories are starting to fail. So, I decided that before these memories are totally gone, I might as well preserve them and browse them at my pleasure and leisure.

Marino Dionio

Marino Dionio

Marino or Nono as we lovingly call him is our teddy bear. He is a hulk of a man, scary at first glance, someone you wouldn't want to mess with, but one with a kind heart. He is the "leader" of his group and glue that sticks them together. When left on his own, he can be very silent but when he is with the group, he can be the nosiest. He is thoughtful, protective, fun-loving, generous, and friendly. He is a great friend to his peers. To me, someone I can count on.

I can remember those days when the results of the board exam wasn't released immediately. He threatened to burn PRC Region 6 office is he passes. He didn't believe he could pass as he was really ill when he took the exam. Guess what??? He passed!!! He worked in Laguna for a time, at Caltex along the South Super Highway as plant engineer. He is now in Saudi working. In was so relieved when I finally heard from him.

Badong is Boy Chick-boy. He is what you describe as "lapitin ng mga babae". I used to tease him, "Si Aida o si Lorna o si Fe". Even gays ask me about him. Grabe! I guess it is because he is charming and sweet. Girls find him comfortable to be with.

Badong is the anak whom I have helped stay in school. I didn't know him as anak when I started helping him. He is Marino's buddy who was already with me at that time. Marino told me about Badong and his family's difficulties. Because of these difficulties, his family was considering that he stop his schooling. I got really concerned because he was already in his fourth year and I felt like it was such a waste to stop schooling with no assurance that he could someday still go back to school.

Since then, he was among my most reliable anak and companion. He shows me often how grateful he is to me for being there for him. I am very pleased and proud that he studied really well and passed all the subjects he enrolled. He is now an electrical engineer working in Cavite.

He was also my official "masahista". He knows that I work hard and push myself too far most of the times. I would often have aches and pains on my back, shoulders, hands, feet, etc. He would always offer to "hilot" me with liniment. There was this one time while in Panpanan when he gave me a "hilot" using Salonpas Gel. At first, the liniment became so hot that it felt like my back is burning. Then, slowly it became cold. I felt cold that I started shivering so bad. When they felt I was shivering, he and Rhyant placed jackets over me and they held me close so that I will stop shivering and would feel warm.

Welson Napusi

Welson Napusi

Welson is our Boy Tulog-Tulog because he loves to sleep. He is the male Cinderella. He comes late but blast the party to smithereens. He chronically late perhaps because he loves to sleep. He is among the sweetest person you will get to know. He is among the most affectionate and loving person I've ever have the pleasure of spending times with. He speaks to you in a very caring manner and makes you want to care for him too. He is among my favorite snoring partner, not that he snores, I do. He is among my favorite "katabi" when we all go to sleep on the living room floor in front of the tv.

He passed through hard times... in his studies, in his family, in the tragedy that befell their family, his illness, and his not being able to work abroad. Despite all these, he has stayed strong and good-natured. He is lucky to have had a loving and sweet girlfriend who is now his wife. He is my first anak who got married. He married before I did! He respected me so much that he even asked my approval that he gets married before I do.

He is now living in Cavite while working in Makati. His wife is in Saudi.

Rhyant Pacione

Rhyant Pacione

Rhyant is sweet and soft-spoken. He is Welson's buddy. They have similar traits. He is also very affectionate, thoughtful, caring, and a gentleman. If he cares for you, he will watch over you like a hawk, making sure you are safe and protected. He is a good son and brother to his family, watching over his mother and sister while his father worked in a far place.

I asked Rhyant to watch over my sister when they both took SOLA training. He was the model protector and guardian. I knew I wouldn't worry over my sister's safety as long as he is around.

Rhyant is among those people who courts girls the way a girl should be courted. He gives them flowers, gifts, letters, dutifully picks them up and takes them to their homes, making sure they are cared for.

I love it when he talks and then laughs. It makes me smile. I am happy when my kids are happy. When they laugh, I am most joyous.

We call him Lope. I wasn't there when they christened him Lope during their Seminar and Field Trip in Manila. They ate a meal served by the restaurant contracted by the travel agency. Some of the dishes have started to spoil but they ate nonetheless. In consequence, some of the students got upset stomach, including Lope. The travel time would usually last for hours and there were no CR stops most of the time. He was really feeling uncomfortable, he had no choice but to rein it in. I'm not quite sure of what actually happened but it must have been very memorable that they began calling him Lope as in Loperamide.

He is also a huge fellow with a very solid and dense body and limbs. Should you bump unto him, you will surely be the one to fall on your butts. There was this one time when we all fell asleep on the living room floor and he was lying beside me. In the middle of the night, a huge weight was suddenly placed on my stomach that I almost can't breath. It was Lope's leg. Boy, was it heavy. It took all my strength to lift it off me.

In Panpanan, he was my companion on the way. While we were on this ravine sloping down, he and I were running down while Rhyant and Welson served as "wall" somewhere ahead so that Lope and I will not go over the ravine. It was so funny and we were laughing as we walked and ran because Lope and I were huge while Welson and Rhyant were slim. We were thinking at that time that if our momentum was too fast, the two won't be able to stop us, all four of us would all go over the ravine.

Lope, like Marino, when left on his own in a corner would not speak. When he does speak, I am happy. What I remember most about him is the way he laughs. He transforms into a really adorable person.

I'm an all-around person. I can be a daughter, sister, mother, father, friend, teacher, lover, enemy, and stranger to people around me. A person can either hate me, admire me, laught at me, miss me, or love me.
